OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
We strive to make responsible choices in the materials we use to build our products and work to build things that will have a much longer lifespan than many of their petroleum-based counterparts.
Paulownia is by far the fastest growing hardwood tree in the world.
It is the lightest known timber other than balsa. At a third of the weight of Oak and half the weight of Pine, it also has the highest strength to weight ratios of any wood in the world.
While we continue to research and test bio-based epoxy resins and alternatives to traditional fiberglass reinforcements, we believe that building a highly durable and repairable product can offset the use of certain traditional materials.
The far majority of paddle and surf boards are built from toxic foams and resins and have incredibly short life expectancies. When these products don't end up as waste in landfills, they pollute our oceans. Unlike our products, when these boards are damaged they are rarely repaired.
